Glasgow Fort Extension News
A £9m leisure development will begin this month at Glasgow Fort Shopping Park.
The 45,000 sqft extension, which is due to be open next summer, will include a Vue cinema and five restaurants; TGI Friday, Prezzo, Harvester, Chiquito and PizzaExpress.
Phil Goodman, Centre Manager at Glasgow Fort Shopping Park, said: "Glasgow Fort Shopping Park, as well as a wide range of retail outlets, already has a number of restaurants and cafes which are very popular. By adding a cinema and more big restaurant names to the mix, the Park will have even more to offer to our customers. This development will cement our place as a place for family, friends and individuals to shop, eat and enjoy their leisure time." The project has Miller Construction UK as its main contractor.
Being built on the north side of the park, adjacent to where Asda Living and Hobbycraft are located, the project will not interfere with the day to day use of the shopping park. Phil added: "A leisure development will be a great addition to this area and provide a real boost in terms of entertainment provision, as well as for the area's economy. This development comes at an exciting time for East End of Glasgow. With the Commonwealth Games coming, we will be proud to have such a fantastic showcase for visitors to come and enjoy what the area has to offer. We understand the role we can play in helping support the local economy and community and will work with our partners to identify jobs for people from the East End of Glasgow."
