SILVERBURN OPENS IN ALL ITS GLORY
After twelve years in the planning, Silverburn will open its doors to the public on 25th October at 10am.
Incorporating over a million sqft of the biggest fashion names on the high street, Silverburn is largest purpose-built shopping centre in Scotland.
Opening with over forty shops and restaurants including the biggest Next shop in Scotland, Debenhams store, Yu! Sushi, M&S, Boots, Lime Blue, Pure Spa, Kurt Geiger, Monsoon, H&M and Build a Bear to name just a few, Silverburn will officially launch in February of next year with many more fashion brands and a great food offer including Nandos, Wagamama and Pizza Hut.

Director of Combined Property Services, Richard Low comments: “It is an incredible time for us to see Silverburn come to fruition. What is the most exciting part is to see peoples’ reactions when they come through the door. Sneak previews have reinforced to us that we have achieved something that has never been experienced before in Scotland, indeed in the UK.
“We very much want people to enjoy the environment, appreciate our points of differences and be inspired by the great shopping on offer. We look forward to the opening of the Winter Garden in February of next year when we will see a collection of fabulous restaurants and more great shops.”
Silverburn features especially commissioned works of art on permanent display. One, The Beast measures six meter long by one-and-a-half meter high and was purchased at a cost £96,000.
Designed by leading Scottish artist Kerry Stewart, The Beast is the very antitheses of Silverburn - clean, sleek and desirable. The Beast is very hairy with an almost dirty look.
Richard Low added: “Silverburn is so much more than just great shopping – it’s about creating civic spaces that inspire and stimulate. This structure hasn’t a definite shape and is open to interpretation, but what is very evident is a strong sense of humour which will sit very well within Silverburn.”
On the jobs front Silverburn has made a very positive impact on the South East of Glasgow.
Rosh Campbell from Glasgow South West Regeneration Agency said: “50% of all retail staff is from the SW region, at least 50% of which were previously unemployed. On the construction side 227 sustainable jobs have been created, 68% (154) are local residents, with over 240 training opportunities undertaken by clients. By setting up the Great Pollok Accord we have ensured that the local community has had a fantastic opportunity to gain employment and training.”
Ongoing support for the community is very much part of the Silverburn management’s plan. David Pierotti, Centre Director said: “We have already been involved in local initiatives such as Stars of the South and International Day and we will be setting up a Silverburn foundation in which we will fund worthwhile projects. It is important to us that we demonstrate our total commitment to the people in this area.”
Silverburn will be open weekdays 10am to 10pm, Saturday 9am to 8pm and Sunday 11am to 6pm

Silverburn is the £350 million purpose-built retail development by Retail Property Holdings Ltd.
Situated on a 75-acre site at Junction 2 of the M77 in south Glasgow, Silverburn has been successful in attracting a host of flagship stores including M&S, Next and Debenhams as well as a number of big brand shopping and food brands.
Silverburn is the largest purpose-built regional development in Scotland and CACI predict it will become number four in the retail ranking for Scotland behind Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen city centres.
1.6 million reside within 30 minutes of Silverburn, with half of all Scottish households (1.2million) located within its retail footprint.
