Scotland’s Largest Law Firm Commissions Keppie for New Aberdeen and Glasgow Offices
Glasgow and Aberdeen Law Offices
The interior architecture team from leading practice Keppie has been instructed by Brodies LLP to fit out its new offices in Glasgow and Aberdeen. Both projects were secured following a competitive tender and presentation to the Brodies team.
The Aberdeen office is a new building in Union Grove, in the heart of the city. It houses three floors of office space and can accommodate more than 100 staff. The fit-out gives Brodies, the largest law firm in Scotland, the opportunity to incorporate its new branding into the workplace.
On the back of its work in Aberdeen for Brodies, which is due to complete at the end of May 2014, Keppie was invited to tender for the fit-out of the firm’s new Glasgow office, at 110 Queen Street, a prominent new development in the city centre. Brodies will occupy 25,000 sq ft over the sixth and part of the seventh floor within the nine-storey building, accommodating over 200 staff when construction is completed in late 2015.
Fraser Low, director of interior architecture at Keppie, commented: “We were appointed by Brodies as workplace designers to both space plan and develop the look and feel of the Aberdeen office based around its newly developed corporate branding.
“Our initial discussions focused on gaining a thorough understanding of Brodies’ brand and work practices. We then reviewed the outline space plans, re-working the general arrangements to make best use of space and light. We also looked to fit additional meeting areas and began developing a fresh palette of materials reflective of the new Brodies brand. This was very well received, even generating savings which were used to improve client facing areas such as the reception area and meeting rooms.
“In terms of 110 Queen Street in Glasgow, we are actively working on the design of this fit out using the Aberdeen model as our reference – the bespoke design will play an important part in building brand consistency throughout Brodies’ offices.”
Bill Drummond, managing partner of Brodies, said: “We are delighted with the progress of our new offices in Aberdeen and Glasgow. We have developed a close working relationship with the Keppie team and appreciate the ideas and vision that they have brought to both projects, bringing alive our ideas about creating a great working environment for our clients and people.”
