In 1968 The Athenaeum (built 1886) became the Royal Scottish Academy for Music & Drama and the RSAMD moved to Renfrew St

The Royal Scottish Academy for Music & Drama had a new building – £5m Alexander Gibson Opera School extension – completed in 1998, by Boswell Mitchell Johnston (image above).
The RSAMD Opera School is three storeys high with studios, rehearsal and conference rooms. The Royal Scottish Academy for Music & Drama building is located off Cowcaddens Road.
