Balornock bowling club is a proposed new club house building in the north east of Glasgow. The clients who are the members of the club wish to move from their dilapidated club house to a new one.
The proposed clubhouse is a simple long building which matches the length of the green along its west side. It is raised up above the green on the existing banked ground with its major spaces over looking the green.
The building is kept low to avoid excessive overshadowing of the green and some shelter and outdoor space is provided beneath the eaves, around the entrance and at the south end towards the park for people to take a drink outside in good weather.
The big social space with nearby kitchen, bar and cellar is next to the green and the park while the toilets and locker rooms are towards the road. The entrance is in the middle with a central lobby controlling the main way in from the car or up from the green while a secondary, smaller door gives a more direct access between green and locker rooms.
Location: south of Springburn Park, north of Glasgow city centre
