Gareth Hoskins takes over Scotland’s NHS design

Gareth Hoskins, a member of the AJ 40 under 40, has been appointed design champion for the entire NHS north of the border. The high-profile role comes as part of a deal which has seen Architecture and Design Scotland agree a three-year framework deal with NHS Scotland.
The agreement will also see an increase in enabling on the healthcare schemes and the development of a design assessment programme for new Scottish hospitals. The Scottish Executive Health Department is committed to improvements in hospital design and is soon to produce a ‘Policy on Design Quality’.
Gareth Hoskins’ new position will see him take over the strategic leadership of the design champions network in NHS Scotland. This appointment re-affirms Gareth Hoskins’ position as possibly the most influential young architect currently working in Scotland. A+DS aims to support NHS Scotland in delivering better healthcare environments.
